15-09-25 - Site Spotlight Weekly

I think I am due for a change. I’ve had the good idea to scrap the “What’s New?!” page and post the content here. I feel like this will make things easier. I may only inform you on what’s new on my site once a week because otherwise i’ll be posting here too much. I may keep a page up in the navigation bar called "What's New?!" or "Site Spotlight Weekly" but it will simply act as a link and when pressed, it will take you here. With that out of the way, it’s time to get on to what I’ve actually been working on and the new things added to my site.

All changes and updates listed here are from Monday 15th September 2025 - Sunday 21st September 2025!

Saturday 20th September 2025 - Sunday 21st September 2025

I have started making changes to my portfolio pages, mostly with the film photography. It’s not big changes but i’ve just started changing how the introductions look like on the pages. I’m going to keep updating these going forward so my site looks cleaner, more polished and much more professional.

This is going to take a while, so some pages haven’t changed yet but here are some examples of what the intro now looks like compared to the older version. Please bear ind mind that no two pages are the same because each page features different work;

For Kodak Ektachrome (Roll 39) I had this old introduction;

Old Introduction - Computer Screen.

The newer introduction below looks much more cleaner in my opinion. The navigation bar at the top does not look too cluttered and it’s easier to see the text unlike the old intro;

New Introduction - Computer Screen.

As you can see from the example, things flow a little better. I’ve tested the intro on mobile devices too and I think the final design does look better overall.

Here is another example of the old introduction Kodak Portra 160 (Roll 38) on a mobile device;

Old Introduction - Screen from a Mobile Device.

New Introduction - Screen from a Mobile Device.

Now for the example of the old introduction on regular computer screen;

Old Introduction - Computer Screen.

And here is the new intro on a computer screen;

Friday 19th September 2025 -

As of Friday 19th September 2025, I’ve set up an enquiry form for film swaps. I want to do film swaps with many people and I feel the best way to do that is to set up a form for it. I know, I know, i’m making it sound so strict and taking the fun out of it all and thats not very good because film swaps are meant to be fun and not all structured and strict. Please bear in mind I have many people from who are wanting to do this. The majority are actually people from China.
I was replying to about 30 different people just through comments on a single post I uploaded and so that is overwhelming for me. By submitting a form, it will give me peace of mind because then I can work through the list of applicants one by one and contact you when the time comes.
As I’ve mentioned in the enquiry form, I’ll pay the developing costs for the film, no matter if its black and white, colour or slide film so you don’t need to worry about that. Then when I get the scans back from the lab, or when I scan them myself, I’ll go through them. I’ll edit them and then upload them via the Google Drive and send you the access link. I’ll supply both the edited images and the unedited images, both in Tiff format and Jpeg Format for easy viewing and for whatever your needs are.
I am able to do a maximum of two film swaps per applicant at the moment due to developing costs and time spent scanning. I’ll then move onto the next person and so on until I can come back to you. This may be subject to change but at the moment that is what I am offering.
During communication, you can also request your negatives to be mailed back to you after the development if that is what you would want. I keep all negatives for the foreseeable future and I don’t throw them away after a specific time unlike most labs so if you ever want them back in the future, just send me a message.
The reason I am doing this with no cost to you, is because I enjoy it. I like to be creative and it is a process that we are both being a part of. All you need to do is send me the film you’ve shot. It’s as easy as that.
If you would like to contact me about participating in a film Swap, you need only click below and fill out the form. You can also find this in the top bar of my website.
Film Swap Enquiry Form
Although not up there yet, I also have a page where you can view the film swaps in their entirety. It is a little bare right now as I am waiting for scans from one film swap and waiting to develop a roll from another film swap.
You can also access these images (not yet posted) by clicking below. Or if you would rather, you can find this page by hovering over “Photography Styles” in the top bar of my website.
Film Swaps - Coming Soon
Anyway, that’s all I have to say about the film swaps for now.

Monday 15th September 2025 - Thursday 18th September 2025 -

I have decided to start adding a section called “By Camera”. What this section allows you to do, is see images taken with a specific camera. You can find this section up on the top bar of my website. If you hover over “By Camera”, different cameras will come up. I hope to update this over time and keep adding cameras. It’s a little bare right now because I haven’t got every camera up and the cameras that are up, I haven’t got much stuff in it as I am scanning them in. I may take my Black and White Films to the lab and pay them to scan them in so it saves me more time.
Take a look if you would like. If you’re looking for images shot on a point and shoot then you can find the "Pentax Espio 738S". If you like Polaroids then take a look at the "Polaroid Autofocus 660" as an example. As I said, over time I'll add even more cameras and more content within those cameras.

I've added more Portfolio galleries for 35mm Film:
Before I get to the images that I’ve added, I thought I should say that if you read on, there are buttons that will take you where you need to go, or you can access the images by going to the bar on the top of my website. There you’ll see “Film Photography”. If you click on that, you will be able to access my film from a page titled "2023-2025".

I posted my second article and Blog Piece called “The Magic of Slide Film”. I am very happy with it. Within, I go over these key areas below;

1.) First impressions - Although brief, I give my first impressions.

2.) What is Slide Film? - I go over it’s several names and the differences between other film such as colour negative and black and white.

3.) Editing vs. Straight Out of the Camera - Here I dive into why there isn’t really such a thing as an unedited image from Film and I talk about the different scanning methods and softwares to back up my point.

4.) Experiencing Slide Film - I talk about the different ways people viewed photographs before the age of Digital Photography.

5.) The Importance of Slide Film - In this section I talk about Slide Film and its important use cases, especially back in the day.

6.) Kodachrome: The Legendary Slide Film - I talk a little bit about Kodachrome and why it’s not around anymore.

7.) The Future of Slide Film - Here I talk about what the future may hold for this type of film and what I hope happens going forward.

8.) Final Thoughts - And finally, here I give my final thoughts on the matter and why Slide Film is wonderful to shoot and to look at.

If this article sounds like your kind of thing then I recommend checking it out. It is just my previous Blog to this one and so you should be able to find it quite easily. If you are still having trouble finding it then you can just click on the button below and it will take you straight there.
