Charles Davies (also known as Charlie Davies) is a photographer based in Devon, England, specialising in film photography, digital photography, Polaroid photography, documentary photography and event photography. At the moment he is also diving into Portrait Photography.
Charles began his photography journey in 2022 with a Polaroid camera before expanding into 35mm film photography and digital photography. Since then, he has worked with a variety of cameras, lenses, and photographic formats, developing a portfolio that combines documentary storytelling with creative and technical exploration. He really enjoys the more manual side of photography such as film developing and is very excited to dive into B&W Darkroom Printing.
His photography focuses on capturing authentic moments, everyday life, landscapes, architecture, people, events, and personal projects. At the moment Charles is the resident photographer for the Hubcaps, a local band based in Axminster and has been doing volunteer work for Pippin's Community Centre (also based in Axminster). Alongside the volunteer work, Charles has photographed locations for the Action East Devon Charity.
He enjoys working with both vintage film cameras and modern digital equipment, believing that each photographic process offers its own creative strengths. Film photography remains a significant part of his work, with ongoing projects exploring different film stocks, expired film, instant photography, and traditional photographic techniques.
