This week has been very slow. A lot of time has gone to editing my Polaroids and this is going to and will take some time. Polaroids naturally take longer than regular film to get them in a. state that I am happy with because I have to manually remove dust and hairs and the surface area is quite bigger than regular film. Polaroids are also dust magnets so they seem to pick up dust and hairs more than film does.

All changes and updates listed here are from Monday 27th October 2025 - Sunday 2nd November 2025!

Monday 27th October

Slow day of organising my website:

1.) Today I haven’t really done much apart from organising my website. I used Study Stream again.

Tuesday 28th October

Out all day:

1.) I have been out all day. I assumed thew weather would be bad and so I di not take my camera with me. I was wrong and the weather was perfectly fine.
2.) Once I got home and did some more editing but not very much. I wanted to just chill out for a bit and listen too some music. I used Study Stream again while editing.

Wednesday 29th October

Slow day:

1.) Today I didn’t really do anything. No editing, no scanning. I was out today but not for very long.
2.) Once I got home I logged back onto Study Stream and started writing a plan of what equipment and chemicals I need to develop my film.
3.) Hopefully I'll be able to get the equipment soon and then I can develop colour film.

Thursday 30th October

Slow day:

1.) Today I didn’t do anything. I have actually been learning how to code so I guess I have been doing something. I did this while on Study Stream again.
2.) I paid for the developing costs so I will be sending my film to the lab soon! I’m gettigng the lab to scan them so once I get the scans back I should be able to go through them nd adjust them if needed. Then I can post them on my website!

Friday 31st October 2025

Slow day:

1.) I dropped off my films at the post office and so they should be getting to the lab to be developed soon! I am very much looking forward to seeing my images.
2.) Today I did only a little bit of editing. Hardly anything at all. I used Study Stream again however I didn’t feel very motivated today and so I decided not do do anything.

Saturday 1st November

Productive but slow day:

1.) Today I felt more motivated and so I did lot’s of editing. I used Study Stream again today.
2.) I have also uploaded some more Polaroids to my 2023 page:

You can find the page in the top navigation bar of my website. Hover over Polaroids and then click “All Polaroids”. That will take you to where you need to go. Or you can click the button below which will take you to my 2023 Polaroids.

Polaroids (2023)

Or if you would like to view all of my Polaroids and not just the ones from 2023 then you can click the button below.

Polaroids (2022, 2023 and 2025)

All of the Polaroids below are ones that I have just uploaded. They were shot in 2023 on a mix of two different cameras. The cameras I used for these photographs were the Polaroid Lab , the Polaroid SX-70 and the Polaroid Now. I shot these at Hotel Tropitel in Sal Hasheesh and the surrounding areas in Egypt.

Sunday 2nd November

Productive but slow day:

1.) Today I felt very productive and really spent a lot of my time editing my images. Still, I didn’t do anything else photography wise. I did have a think about what I want to do going forward.
2.) I wrote out a checklist of the things I really want and need. The problem is that there are many things and all of them would benefit me in some way and it is hard to choose what my number one priority is. On one hand I really need a medium format camera because that would help me progress in photography and on the other hand I really need the equipment to develop my films.s I also would like to print my photos however I think I have landed on a great idea and the idea is darkroom printing. I think printing in the traditional way would benefit me more and make me happier than if I printed digitally.
I also don’t really do mcc digital photography and I mainly just shoot film and so darkroom printing is probably the way to go. It would be much more fun an I think I would gain some very valuable experience printing that way then if I used a digital printer. Darkroom printing however does come with a cost, and the cost is time and space. I would have to spend a lot more time in the darkroom fine tuning my methods and doing test prints to make sure the final image comes out well. That takes time. Another issue is space. Enlargers are quite big and you need a completely dark room to print. However, I think my bathroom should be sufficient for the type of enlarger I was looking at.
The enlarger that I am looking it is the intrepid 4X5 colour enlarger. it can do both colour and black and white enlargements for both colour and black and white prints and it literally isn’t even that big. The enlarger by Intrepid can enlarge anything up to 4X5 film and it works by hooking up your 4x5 camera and sing that as the enlarger. Using this type of enlarger would push me to try 4X5 film because I need a 4X5 camera to use the enlarger and I can also use it to print my images. I think the camera plus the enlarger, chemicals and paper would cost less than a great digital printer. It would also save me money in the long run because ink for digital printers are very expensive and so is the paper however I think that darkroom printing will be much more cost affective in both ink and energy consumption (digital printers have to be turned on 24/7 and you have to print regularly).
