The images below were shot on the Contax RTS (roll 18).

I will speak more about my experience down below…

KODAK ULTRAMAX 400

So I finally purchased a new camera. Up until this point, I was only purchasing Polaroid Cameras and I had only purchased a single film camera. I decided it was time to move on from my Olympus 35DC and purchase an SLR. This would give me a lot more control over the final image and more room for experimentation. This is because while my Olympus has manual focus and the ability to change ISO, you can't really adjust aperture or shutter speed making it quite difficult to do things manually.
The camera I purchased was the Contax RTS. I decided to shoot this roll at home and in Seaton. I metered using the cameras in built light meter and I metered using my digital camera. Sadly I didn't take any notes on what images were taken with which method but both duplicates came out looking almost identical. Only a very few images were underexposed, mostly the ones that were taken indoors.
I did get two images inside that came out with the correct exposure however they are very vey blurry because I had to use a very slow shutter speed and I was doing it handheld and so I haven't really included them here. All in all, I am very happy with these images. Getting myself an SLR is probably one of the best decisions that I have made. The light meter seems to be working extremely well as well compared to my Olympus, where I have to hope the image comes out well exposed. Usually with the Olympus, the images came out underexposed.
The Contax RTS has the ease of shooting it automatically but you can also shoot it manually as well for a slower and more deliberate experience. Most of the time I do find myself actually shooting automatic or I adjust settings based on what the camera is telling me because the light meter is just that good. I also really like these pictures. They’re not the best I’ve taken but because this was the first roll in my Contax, I like them a lot more as well.
