Colyton Carnival 1
The images below were shot on Ilford FP4 Plus 125 on my Minolta X-300.
I will speak more about my experience down below…
I decided to visit the Colton Carnival that is based in Colton each and every year. I haven't been to a carnival in so long and this time I decided to shoot on film (I've never photographed a carnival before). I first snapped a few photos before the floats even came however I had some really bad luck because as soon as the floats did start moving is when my camera malfunctioned. The film advance ever went all floppy and I could not fire the shutter. Looking back now, I believe what happened was the cold weather did something to the internals of the camera. With that aside, I am really happy with these images. This was the first time using a flash with my film photography. The flash was also manual so I had to know the settings quite well for each photo. The film I used for these images was great because it was such a slow speed film there wasn't much grain. Even with the film being so slow there were no problems because I was using a flash.
